San Francisco's Daytona reaches US$1 billion valuation building secure sandboxes for AI agents
The US$60 million Series B, led by FirstMark, backs a cloud where agents from OpenAI, Anthropic and others run code without touching a company's core systems.

Daytona, a San Francisco AI infrastructure company, has raised US$60 million in Series B funding at a US$1 billion valuation, bringing its total funding to US$91 million, Tech Startups reported on Tuesday. FirstMark led the round, with participation from Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures and individual founders including Stripe’s Patrick Collison, Shopify’s Tobi Lütke, Perplexity’s Aravind Srinivas and Zoom’s Eric Yuan.
Daytona creates isolated virtual computers, or sandboxes, where AI agents can execute code, use applications and complete tasks without unrestricted access to a company’s underlying systems. It says it can provision them in milliseconds across Linux, Windows and macOS, and customers can pause, resume or duplicate environments. It counts OpenAI, Anthropic, NVIDIA, Meta, Cursor, Cognition and Cohere among its users.
The company said its revenue run rate grew 25-fold between January and September, though it did not disclose revenue. “Companies are going to manage thousands of digital employees, and each one needs a safe place to fail,” co-founder and CEO Ivan Burazin said.
Founded in 2023 by Burazin, Goran Draganić and Vedran Jukić, Daytona competes with the large cloud providers and plans to use the money to grow its computing infrastructure and hire in San Francisco, Croatia and Singapore.
