Canada has signed a General Security of Information Agreement with Greece, Public Services and Procurement Canada announced. The agreement was signed in Athens by Canada's ambassador, Sonya Thissen, and Maj.-Gen. Emmanouil Chatzis of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

The agreement allows the two NATO allies to exchange classified information, including defence intelligence and technical data on weapons systems, between authorized contractors and governments.

Ottawa says that once it takes effect, the deal will help Canadian companies compete in Greece and deepen co-operation on maritime security and infrastructure protection.
