Sui developer Mysten Labs names Kevin Boon CEO as Evan Cheng moves to lead a new AI unit
Cheng stays chief technology officer and will run a self-contained business unit building products that help people trust AI agents, anchored to Sui and Walrus.

Mysten Labs, the company behind the Sui blockchain, has named president Kevin Boon chief executive and is forming a self-contained artificial intelligence business unit, co-founder Evan Cheng wrote in a company blog post on Friday. Cheng remains chief technology officer and will lead the new unit.
The unit will focus on what the company calls agentic trust products, with its own engineering and product teams, and will run much like the onchain finance unit Mysten set up this summer. Everything it builds will be anchored to Sui and the Walrus storage network. Cheng wrote that the aim is to let agents “act within the bounds defined by their people, and nothing more.”
Boon has been with Mysten from the start, first as the company’s lawyer and then as president. Cheng wrote that handing him the CEO role lets Cheng concentrate on technical direction.
The change follows Mysten’s announcement earlier this month of a collaboration with Google Cloud on Verifiable Agent Arbiter, which it describes as an evidence layer for enterprise agents built on Sui and Walrus.
