Mistlabs, led by former Plaud executive Peter Mo, said on Monday it has raised US$26 million across multiple rounds led by Luminous Ventures and manufacturer Huaqin, TechCrunch reported.

Its Ambi apps for iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch act like meeting notetakers but can listen through the day to build context and proactively surface suggestions. The company also plans its own hardware device with a screen, camera and microphones.

Mo said ambient capture is off by default and can be turned off at any time, and that the company does not store recordings. TechCrunch noted it is unclear whether the products will alert others that they are being recorded.

Ambi has more than 50 staff across offices in San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
