Bay Area tech workers weigh organizing as AI reshapes their jobs
Organizers say more tech employees are getting involved as AI and politics change the industry.

Organizers say more Bay Area tech employees are getting involved in worker advocacy as artificial intelligence changes the nature of technical work, KQED reported on Sunday.
For decades, high pay, strong upward mobility and a culture of individual achievement kept Silicon Valley's white-collar workers largely detached from organized labour, the report said.
Google product manager Joshua Carroll, a former Microsoft employee, told KQED he joined the Tech Workers Coalition, which seeks "better working conditions and a real say in how the technology [they] build impacts our communities and the world."
The coalition's Bay Area chapter has focused on building "worker consciousness" and connecting tech workers to campaigns on issues from surveillance cameras to artificial intelligence, according to the report.
