Amazon seeks to move about US$8 billion of Nvidia chips into an investor vehicle, FT reports
The Seattle company would lease thousands of Grace Blackwell chips back from a special-purpose vehicle funded by debt.

Amazon is seeking to offload about US$8 billion of advanced Nvidia chips to investors through a new vehicle aimed at strengthening its balance sheet, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The report was carried by the Financial Post and Reuters.
In recent weeks Amazon has held talks with investors about moving thousands of Grace Blackwell chips it is installing in U.S. data centres into a special-purpose vehicle, then leasing them back. The vehicle would raise money from outside investors through debt issuance, and Amazon plans to offer an equity stake of up to 10 per cent, according to the report.
The chips are installed in more than a dozen U.S. data centres across five states, including Nevada and Virginia. Discussions are ongoing and subject to change, the people said. Amazon and Nvidia did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
The structure would let the company take a more asset-light approach as AI spending rises, the report said.
