B.C. Conservatives pledge PST pause on Canadian alcohol as Greens promise renter protections
Party leaders spent Tuesday on LNG, sales tax and housing as the provincial campaign continued.

LNG, the provincial sales tax and renter protection dominated the B.C. campaign trail on Tuesday, CityNews Vancouver reported.
In Langley, BC Conservative interim leader Lorne Doerkson promised to temporarily pause the PST on Canadian beer, wine and spirits until the trade conflict with the U.S. is resolved. "Take a bottle of Okanagan wine priced at $20," Doerkson said. "Today, a PST adds two more dollars to that at the till, and under our plan it obviously would add nothing." He did not say how much the pause would cost the provincial budget.
Doerkson also welcomed the LNG Canada expansion announcement and repeated his party's promise to triple LNG production over the next decade. Speaking as premier, NDP leader David Eby touted the $30 billion Kitimat expansion, saying Phase 2 means 4,000 high-paying jobs.
In Victoria, BC Greens leader Emily Lowan said her government would reinstate the $3.3 billion community housing fund and implement vacancy control. The final day of voting in the provincial election is Oct. 24.
