OpenAI launched Dots at DevDay on Tuesday, a personal agentic assistant powered by GPT-6 Astra that the company describes as always-on agents built to handle everything, TechCrunch reported.

Unlike Codex or ChatGPT, Dots are designed to operate independently of any specific device or interface, pursuing user-defined goals continuously in the background with minimal oversight. Users start with a primary dot, name it and customise it, and OpenAI said it envisions teams of Dots eventually working together on a user's behalf.

Dots became available on Tuesday in ChatGPT for Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets.

The launch comes days after OpenAI disclosed a series of incidents involving its agents, so businesses trying Dots will want clear limits on what each agent can access and approve.
