LNG Canada approves Phase 2, set to double exports from Kitimat
The multibillion-dollar expansion will create thousands of jobs, chief executive Chris Cooper said.

LNG Canada said on Tuesday that its multibillion-dollar Phase 2 expansion in Kitimat will go ahead, a decision that could double exports of liquefied natural gas from the northern B.C. facility to overseas markets, CBC News reported.
Chief executive Chris Cooper said in a statement that the project will create thousands of jobs and strengthen Canada's role as a trusted energy partner, calling it a nation-building investment that shows the country can build big things when governments, First Nations partners, communities, trades and contractors work together.
The final investment decision came the day after the B.C. NDP and Conservatives both sought credit for the sector's growth on the campaign trail.
A project of this scale reaches well beyond Kitimat: suppliers, engineering firms, camps, transport companies and service businesses across the north will compete for years of contracts.
