REMINGTON & MAVERICK

A 22-book children’s adventure series built around Paul Lake, family, friends, boating, swimming, outdoor challenges and the joy of a big day outside. Every title remains in development until it clears ARQS Press editorial, artwork, metadata and production QA.

SERIES STATUS: IN EDITORIAL DEVELOPMENT — NOT YET FOR SALE

Editorially Reviewed Titles

The titles below have received full manuscript reads and second-pass editorial working copies. That is an editorial milestone, not a release declaration; artwork, final layout, rights checks, retailer metadata and rendered-file QA still have to clear before sale.

Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout, rights, retailer metadata and rendered-file QA.

Book 04 — The Missing Paddle

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

A dock-and-shoreline search story about slowing down, looking carefully and working as a team when a paddle disappears before the afternoon outing.

Corrected malformed source text, missing articles and redundant outing wording.
Repaired the Page 11 tense/reference error and tightened Pages 6–16 so the search, discovery and resolution remain logically continuous.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout, rights, retailer metadata, rendered-file QA and native-language QA for translated editions.

Book 05 — The Quiet Cove

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

A quiet-observation story at a sheltered Paul Lake cove, where slowing down and listening turns wildlife watching into its own kind of adventure.

Corrected missing articles, awkward objective wording and the Page 11 tense/reference mismatch between the loon call and the dog.
Tightened Pages 6–16 so lowering voices, listening and observing wildlife remain the continuous story arc while preserving the cast, setting and story heart.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout, rights, retailer metadata, rendered-file QA and native-language QA for translated editions.

Book 06 — The Golden Retriever’s Big Swim

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

A calm-swim-area story in which the golden retriever follows the swimmers farther than expected and the group learns to stay calm, stay together and guide instead of chase.

Corrected the source back-cover grammar, missing articles and the Page 11 tense/article defect.
Tightened Pages 6–16 so the dog’s swim, calm guidance, safe return and closing lesson form one continuous story while preserving the established cast and Paul Lake setting.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout/render QA, final safety/factual review, retailer metadata and native-language QA for translated editions.

Book 07 — The Rainy-Day Lake Club

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

Corrected missing articles, awkward location wording and the source Page 11 tense/reference defect.
Tightened Pages 6–16 so the rainy-day games, storytelling, easing rain and closing lesson form one continuous story while preserving the established cast and story heart.
The complete post-edit read caught a chronology issue in the working edit; Page 11 was corrected and the manuscript received a final verification read.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout/render QA, final factual/safety review, retailer metadata and native-language QA for translated editions.

Book 08 — The Campfire Code

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

An evening-campsite story game in which each person adds one sentence and the group discovers that listening, connecting ideas and sharing the story make it better.

Corrected malformed source text, awkward campsite phrasing, the Page 11 tense/reference defect and the source’s late-afternoon chronology mismatch.
Reworked Pages 6–16 around the actual one-sentence campfire story game and strengthened adult fire-management framing without turning the story into a safety manual.
The complete second read caught two remaining clarity issues on Pages 2 and 6; both were corrected and the manuscript received a final verification read.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout/render QA, final campfire factual/safety review, retailer metadata and native-language QA for translated editions.

Book 09 — The Star Map at Paul Lake

Second-pass editorial copy22-page manuscriptNot for sale

An after-sunset Paul Lake story in which Remington, Maverick and the crew compare a star map with the sky, notice patterns together and invent one playful pattern of their own.

Corrected malformed source text, awkward night-dock phrasing, the Page 11 missing-article/tense defect and the source’s daylight chronology mismatch.
Reworked Pages 6–16 around the actual stargazing premise, preserved the approved cast and story heart, and replaced mismatched watercraft audio direction with nighttime ambience.
A complete second read of the corrected English working copy found no additional editorial defect requiring a text change.
Release blockers remain: final art, cover, layout/render QA, final astronomy and nighttime-water-safety factual review, retailer metadata and native-language QA for translated editions.
ARQS Press editorial gate: a book is not described as proofread unless the complete manuscript has been read. After corrections, the working copy receives a second complete read before it can advance to production QA. Translated editions require appropriate native-language QA and are not treated as final merely because the English source has been proofread.
