Privacy & age settings
Jason's Place is a children's adventure world on ARQS.ca. This page explains the age question, what it changes, and what we do and do not collect. The general ARQS privacy page also applies.
The age question
The first time you visit, we ask for a birth month and year. There is no pre-selected answer and no "I'm 18+" shortcut. We work out an age group (under 13, 13–17 or 18 and over) and keep that broad group on this device in local storage and a first-party cookie named jp_age_group, which lasts about one year. To choose suitable game shelves, we also keep a coarse age band — 3–5, 6–8, 9–12, 13–17 or 18+ — in local storage under jp_age_band. These settings stay in this browser; they are not player profiles. The birth month and year are not saved and are not sent to us.
We ask once. To change it (for example, when a grown-up and a child share a device), use Change age setting in the footer or the button below.
What each age group sees
| Age group | Rooms & games | Helpers | Newsletters & contact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 13 | Kids' books, learning rooms and kid games. Grown-up rooms (purchases, prize-style games and registrations) show an "ask a grown-up" card instead. | Scripted on-site helpers only. They run in the browser and send nothing. | We do not collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian can use For Parents. |
| 13–17 | The same kid-appropriate set, plus rooms labelled 13+. Grown-up rooms show the "ask a grown-up" card. | Kid-safe helpers. | Email updates only with the teen's own clear, unticked opt-in. No phone number is requested. |
| 18 and over | Everything, including Mansion Millions, the store and memberships. | Kid helpers plus a grown-up helper that can pass your questions to the ARQS team. | Optional updates by email or text, only if you tick the consent box. |
For Parents sign-up
On For Parents, a parent or guardian (18+) can leave a name, email and phone number. The consent box is never pre-ticked. Messages are sent by ARQS for Jason's Place, identify the sender, and include a way to unsubscribe; we act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Purchases always go through a grown-up on the payment provider's own page; Jason's Place does not see card details.
